Anthony Brown’s 100 Heads Thinking As One

A Touring Exhibition Of Mixed Media Portraits

In Celebration Of Liverpool • Its History • Its Places • Its People

This exhibition will prove to be not only Anthony’s most prolific and intense work to date, but also the largest exhibition of it’s kind ever staged in the North West of England and possibly the UK & Europe. It will be staged to mark the 800 year Charter of Liverpool, the city of Anthony’s birth and one of his major inspirations.

Held throughout 2007 and 2008, the exhibitions lead into the celebratory year that sees Liverpool achieve its European Capital Of Culture 2008 status.

Conceived and produced by Anthony & Lorraine - A self commission.

The portraits will be a multi layered process of news print, magazine, book, written word & pictures and photograph, all becoming medium alongside traditional oil and acrylic paints and technique which build a uniquely personal portrait of the sitter – a ‘diary’ of their life & image, produced as collage/mixed media works.

The Exhibition subjects are all chosen for their unique contribution to Liverpool life, their individual strength and spirit and their involvement and inspiration within the artists life and work. Some subjects have achieved celebrity, others have achieved tremendous success in their chosen field, but all have achieved a life story.

Subjects will include Thespians, Lawyers, Architects, Editors, Musicians, Secretaries, Hoteliers, Doctors, Journalists, Surveyors, Writers, Directors, Religious & Business leaders and wonderfully inspirational people.

As the exhibition is shown the number of works displayed will be adapted to suit the venue. Sometimes shown in its entirety, sometimes scaled to a quarter or half size with the possibility of two or three small concurrent exhibitions.

Throughout 2007/08 and 2009 there will be an outreach programme to engage Merseyside communities young and old. This will consist of school and youth group workshops, open days at the artist’s studio, lectures and “in conversation with” events at theatres and other venues. The exhibition will be a starting point for others to explore their own journey in life, or for schools, clubs, other organisations or companies to consider the role they play in their communities. Anthony will encourage people to think about developing projects of their own.

This is an exciting and stimulating initiative that will have a resounding impact across Merseyside and beyond.
